Curriculum - Technical Skills for Product Managers

£0.00

I’ve curated this curriculum based on my own personal experience of becoming a technical product manager. In the past few years I’ve been managing teams of product managers, and I wanted to support them to develop their ‘hard’ skills.

Navigating the array of courses out there is challenging, and unless you’ve done the course (or know someone who has!) it’s hard to judge how useful it will be.

That’s where this curriculum comes in.

Every course and resource listed in this curriculum are ones that I have either studied or reviewed myself (or similar to courses that have since been discontinued). And the best part is they are all FREE.

Following this curriculum will up-skill you in:

  • Basic computer science - build your understanding of how computers work, programs are built - and use this to communicate empathetically with engineers

  • Data literacy - learn basic data analysis skills so you can run and interpret reports

  • Integrations - understand the difference between an API and a webhook, and other forms of sharing data across systems

  • Software architecture and design - it’s like product design, but for systems!

  • Command, shell and git - run commands on your computer without a flashy UI

  • Infrastructure - learn how to leverage back end technologies such as cloud and microservices

  • System and network security - essential knowledge for all technical product managers

Completing every course on the curriculum would involve a commitment of nearly a full calendar year - but most courses have flexible start dates and you can dip in and out where you like, meaning you can focus on the areas you need to.
